Today in Gear is our daily roundup of all the latest product announcements, drops and news from Gear Patrol Studios.
Last month, Netflix laid off another 300 employees – marking two back-to-back months of downsizing. The company has announced it lost nearly one million subscribers in Q2. And while Netflix had assumed it might lose more subscribers in the second quarter – after losing roughly 200,000 members in Q1 – it still managed to secure a $1.44 billion net profit. Now, it’s expecting a turnaround in Q3. The company is also banking on improvements from a new lower-priced, ‘ad-supported’ subscription tier that should launch in early 2023. Further, Netflix co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos recently announced that not all of the platform’s licensed content would be available through this cheaper plan. So buckle up if you’re hoping to save money and stream Stranger Things next year.

Geologie Skincare is partnering with Booze Bears to create 333 NFTS. The team hopes to secure more than 10 Etherium from the collection (approximately $15,000 at the time of writing), with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Project Sanctuary, a nonprofit that focuses on veterans and military families. The NFT collection will be available for purchase on Monday, July 25, for pre-sale to whitelist members – and then go live to the public on Tuesday, July 26 – but fans can also get a sneak peek of the drop by joining the Geologie Discord channel and the Booze Bear’s Discord channel.
