Frankfurt, Germany – Sustainable solutions for textiles that eliminate air pollutants, biodegrade at end of life and advance circularity will be on offer at the Messe Frankfurt fairgrounds this week.
The Summer Special Heimtextil expo, which opens tomorrow, will be co-located with the 2022 Techtextil show, which offers technical textiles and applications for a variety of industries, including home.
Archoma will introduce an air purification textile technology that eliminates air pollutants and airborne smells by imitating the natural process of photocatalysis. Perapret Air imitates the natural process of photocatalysis on organic-based substances such as cotton, polyester, polyamide, viscose and any additional fiber and its blends.
The product retains its performance over time and is ideally suited for indoor applications, such as curtains and textile wall coverings, as well as cars and other automotive interiors.
The new technology is among nine new solution systems and three innovations Archroma is presenting at the show. Hall 11.0, Booth B10.
Beaulieu Fibres International is focused on bio circular fibers. Its UltraBond bonding staple fibers replace the need for chemical binders. They open up a path to create 100% polypropylene needlepunched fabrics which meet the same performance requirements as traditional constructions, while reducing the end-of-life environmental impact.
The 100% polyolefin-based needlepunched fabrics are fully recyclable, reducing waste generation and creating high value polypropylene recycled products as new materials. Furthermore, the sustainable fabrics are produced with a significant ecological footprint reduction. Hall 9.1, Booth C43
Devan is unveiling a range of bio-based and biodegradable microcapsules. The new R-Vital NTL range includes evergreen aloe vera, waste-material based avocado seed oil – which offers very high hydration abilities – and Vitamine E. The capsules are biodegradable and hence are at no harm for risk of microplastics.
In addition, Devan is expanding its cooling range with a specific foam-solution as foam bedding makers work to comply with the EU GreenDeal and circularity/recycling requirements. Devan thermoregulation solutions can save energy and water during application; low curing solutions are available next to cooling products that can be applied using less water.
As part of the Pulcra Chemicals Group, Devan is also co-launching the new Pulcra Tec-Su, a bio-based C0 DWR. This hydrophobic agent has a bio-content above 60% and contains no APEO or formaldehyde. It keeps performing very good after multiple washings. Hall 11.0, Booth D30.
Huntsman Textile Effects will showcase a suite of end-to-end solutions for applications including technical and functional apparel and home and hospitality textiles.
Among its resource-source saving solutions, the Avitera SE Fast process is a technology that delivers the lowest environmental impact for dyeing polyester-cellulosic blends. It combines alkali-clearable Terasil W/WW disperse dyes and Avitera SE reactive dyes to cut processing time from around nine hours to just six. This helps mills reduce the water and energy required for production by up to 50% and increase output by up to 25% or more.
Huntsman also continues to extend its range of Phobotex non-fluorinated water-repellent finishes. The comprehensive range of water repellents can be quickly, easily and safely applied to any substrate to ensure premium softness as well as lasting protection against everyday stains. Hall 11.0, Booth C91.
RadiciGroup will shine the spotlight on Renycle, a yarn obtained from recycled nylon; Repetable, a polyester yarn from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles; Respunsible, a nonwoven fabric from recycled polypropylene; and Biolfeel, a brand identifying a yarn line obtained from renewable sources of both nylon and polyester.
